Since the new “assault weapons” ban was signed into law on Tuesday by Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker, sheriffs in 80 different counties have come forward and announced that they will NOT enforce the unconstitutional legislation.
The new bill, hot off Pritzker’s desk, targets commonly owned semiautomatic rifle sales, and requires residents who already own those rifles to register them with the Illinois State Police.
Pritzker’s said in a released statement, “The new law also requires existing owners of semi-automatic rifles to register their ownership, ensuring that law enforcement knows the location of these weapons of war and who to hold accountable if they fall into the wrong hands.”
However, Edwards County Sheriff Boewe quickly came forward and refused to enforce such a ban that clearly violates our Constitutional rights.
Boewe said, “Part of my duties that I accepted upon being sworn into office was to protect the rights provided to all of us, in the Constitution. One of those rights enumerated is the right of the people to KEEP and BEAR ARMS provided under the 2nd Amendment. The right to keep and bear arms for defense of life, liberty and property is regarded as an inalienable right by the people.”
He noted that the semiautomatic rifle ban is “a clear violation of the 2nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.”
Just days later, the Lake & McHenry County Scanner reported that a whopping 79 other Illinois sheriffs have joined Boewe in his stance against enforcing the “assault weapons” ban.
On January 14, 2023, the Lake & McHenry County Scanner reported that 79 other Illinois sheriffs have taken a similar position to Boewe’s and refuse to enforce to the “assault weapons” ban.
To put things into perspective, there are only 102 counties in Illinois. Out of those 102 counties, 80 of them will not comply with the mandate.
What an absolute win for Americans living in those counties! Their governor may be corrupt but their sheriffs are standing up for them!
