FBI Searches Biden’s Beach House for Classified Documents

The FBI has conducted a search at Biden’s Rehoboth Beach house, but reported that no more classified documents were found at the residence.

CBS first broke the news on Wednesday morning, noting that four vehicles with Virginia plates had pulled up to Biden’s home in Rehoboth Beach at 8:30AM. According to Bob Bauer, the personal attorney for Biden, the search took place until around noon, and no classified documents were found.

In an earlier statement, Bauer confirmed that the Department of Justice was conducting the “planned search” at his home, and that the investigation was part of a “further step in a thorough and timely DoJ process” that they would “continue to fully support and facilitate.”

Bauer said following the search that while no classified materials were discovered, “consistent with the process in Wilmington, the DOJ took for further review some materials and handwritten notes that appear to relate to his time as Vice President.”

The news of the search of Biden’s beach home follows a CBS report from earlier this week, confirming that the office of the former Vice President situated in the building of his Washington DC-based think tank, had been searched by the FBI in November of last year, after at least 10 classified documents were discovered by his lawyers.

Both Biden and his wife Jill had spent time in their Rehoboth Beach home only one month later, according to contemporaneous news reports.

Former Trump advisor Stephen Miller said that their beach house was a “contaminated and tainted crime scene, to put it mildly,” while conservative commentator Dana Loesch pointed out that it was a “planned search,” and not a raid, like what 45th President Donald Trump was subjected to by the FBI in his Mar-a-Lago home.

Since the news broke that multiple stashes of classified documents from his time as Vice President and the Senate were found in various places where he has lived or worked, Biden has remained unapologetic, telling reporters that he has “no regrets.”

However, top Senate Democrats, including Dick Durbin and Joe Manchin, slammed Biden over his handling of the documents. Speaking to CNN’s Dana Bash, Durbin said that it was simply “unacceptable” to think that classified documents could have “ended up in boxes or storage.” Manchin told Bash that it was “unbelievable” that the whole thing could have happened.
