Former television reporter and Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake stated during an interview on Newsmax TV that Florida governor Ron DeSantis should “respect that the people just voted him in as governor and serve out that term” instead of seeking the presidency in 2024.
“I am not only a friend of President Trump’s, but as an American, as a mom, I loved him as President and boy do we need him back in the White House ASAP, right away,” Lake said.
Lake stated that she thinks DeSantis has “been an effective governor,” and “I’m assuming that when [the people of Florida] reelected him they were hoping he would stay around for a while.”
“He’s got a long political future ahead of him and I think that he should respect that the people just voted him in as governor and serve out that term for the people of Florida, and then he could obviously run for president,” Lake said. “But this is President Trump’s turn.”
As Valiant News previously reported, an Emerson College poll has found that former President Donald Trump would beat current President Joe Biden in the election, while GOP hopefuls like Ron DeSantis and Nikki Haley would lose.
The poll revealed that if the election were held today, 46 percent of people would vote for Trump while 42 percent would vote for Biden. Seven percent of people said they would vote for somebody else and 5 percent said they were undecided. This is similar to last month’s poll results, which showed 44 percent voting for Trump and 41 percent voting for Biden.
When comparing Biden to other potential candidates, the poll found that he leads against both Governor DeSantis and former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley.
Against DeSantis, 44 percent of people said they would vote for Biden while 40 percent said they would vote for DeSantis. 9 percent of respondents said they would vote for someone else and 8 percent were undecided. Similarly, against Haley, 40 percent said they would support Biden while 37 percent supported Haley. 12 percent supported someone else and 11 percent were undecided.
