NEW YORKER: ‘Anti-Mask Sentiment Is Deeply Embedded In White Supremacy’ So Let’s Wear Them ‘Forever’

According to a new report by the New Yorker, Americans’ refusal to wear face masks that do not prevent the infection or transmission of COVID-19 is “deeply embedded in white supremacy.”

Their solution? Wear COVID-19 masks “forever.”

In the piece, New Yorker reporter Emma Green revealed that a group exists self-identifying as “The People’s CDC,” who disagree with the government’s easing of COVID-19 restrictions and believe that the pandemic’s severity is being downplayed.

“As governments, schools, and businesses have scaled back their covid precautions, the members of the People’s C.D.C. have made it their mission to distribute information about the pandemic—what they see as real information, as opposed to what’s circulated by the actual C.D.C.” Green said.

“They believe the C.D.C.’s data and guidelines have been distorted by powerful forces with vested interests in keeping people at work and keeping anxieties about the pandemic down.”

The group reportedly lobbies the government for more COVID restrictions and recommends that people wear high grade masks for outdoor gatherings.

“There’s a second story of the pandemic happening, which is not about ‘It’s time to go back to normal,’ ” Gregg Gonsalves, a Yale epidemiologist and activist, told Green. “Normal for whom, and who’s getting left behind? I think that’s where the People’s C.D.C. and others are trying to stake a claim and trying valiantly to make an impact.”

The organization also believes that the CDC downplays “long covid,” with Green noting that “no amount of covid is safe, and no number of shots can protect you.”

“We want to say plainly that you can have a mild infection and still get Long COVID,” the organization wrote, in a Weather Report in June. “Vaccinated people can also get Long COVID.”

The “People’s CDC” believes that white people are the most reluctant to wear masks, and claimed that “a lot of anti-mask sentiment is deeply embedded in white supremacy.”

“To name it clearly, the CDC’s policies are eugenic,” the group wrote in August. “They rely on and promote the indefensible stance that disabled and elderly, poor and working class people are disposable, unworthy of care, and unworthy of participation in society.”

Along with anti-mask sentiment, a new report by the New Yorker claimed that physical fitness is also rooted in the white man’s quest for absolute power.

According to the report, the idea of “big muscular men heaving weights” should be replaced with pilates due to “cultural associations” with white supremacy.
